I have a friend, Kevin, who loves to travel. So several years ago we decided to give each other photo "Challenges" any time we went somewhere. On my first trip to Las Vegas I was given the assignment to get the old "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas." Unfortunately due to logistics I was not able complete my homework.

I redeemed myself on this trip! Kevin, this was added to our list just for you!!

The sign is actually in Paradise, Nevada. It's about four miles south of what is known as the strip. It was built in 1959 and designed by a lady named Betty Willis, who is also known for having designed the neon sign for the Moulin Rogue Hotel. The sign was said to be her gift to the city.

Personal note: We took this photo two days after the tragedy on October 1st. A memorial at the sign was slowly beginning to form. Although we were ultimately safe from what happened this rattled both of us greatly. We had left the Mandalay Bay at 10pm that night. Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone impacted by the nightmare that happened on Sunday.
