#66: Baseball Stadiums - Sox Park, Chicago, IL (2/30)

While the new name of the field is technically Guaranteed Rate Field, I just don't feel that rolls off the tongue as nicely as Comiskey Park or Sox Park. Sort of like I can't seem to say the Willis Tower -- to me it will always be the Sears Tower.

I had never been to Sox Park. Being raised as a Chicago Cubs fan, it was not the field of choice. Dan, however, grew up a White Sox fan. So second on our list was this beaut. With an open layout there really isn't a bad seat in the place. It was the end of the season for the White Sox with no hope of going to the playoffs, so we were able to hop around the park and catch an inning from every angle.

The pedway that wraps around the entire park allows for ease of movement to the vendors and concessions. Built in the 1990's the place is in great shape! The pedway along the outfield brings you to a large opening that makes for a great photo opt!

We asked a random (slightly intoxicated) stranger to take our picture. While the backdrop is a bit blurry, you can faintly make out the words "Home to the Chicago White Sox." We will hit another game, hopefully a daytime one, during the next season of two to get a better shot.

One the outside of the stadium the ramps that lead to the upper deck offer some great views of the city. There was this cute sign which was perfect for getting a shot with the Chicago skyline behind us. We are looking forward to what other ballparks around the country have to offer on our future adventures across the USA.
