Happy New Year!
I love the first day of a new month, and I really love the first day of a new year! For many it is a time to energize and focus on making adjustments in our lives. While I don’t think the notion of a new year has to equate to a “new you”, I do feel it can be a time to evaluate how to improve the person you already are. We are all magnificent human beings just as we are. Whether we realize it or not we each of play a significant part in the complex web of life. So why not strive to make a contribution to society as an ever improving version of ourselves.

How I do this is by writing out a 100 List. Every year for the past 11 years I have created a list of 100 things I’d like to accomplish, improve, and challenge myself with in the upcoming year. Items range from financial goals to fitness achievements, places I’d like to travel to or recipes I’d like to try out, or volunteering opportunities to topics I’d like to study. The possibilities are endless.
We are not designed to be stagnant creatures. Being complacent will allow the same struggles and hardships to be repeated time and time again. 2020 has been viewed as a hellacious year by many. You are not a victim to your circumstances, you are the curator of your life. Life is hard work, and as a society we have become good at blaming everyone but ourselves for the lives we have.
As David Goggins writes in his book, Can’t Hurt Me, he says:
“Our culture has become hooked on the quick-fix, the life hack, efficiency. Everyone is on the hunt for that simple action algorithm that nets maximum profit with the least amount of effort. There’s no denying this attitude may get you some of the trappings of success, if you’re lucky, but it will not lead to a calloused mind or self-mastery.”
So as you move into the New Year, remember you are in the driver’s seat.
Challenge yourself.
Improve your mind.
Develop your inner and outer strength.
You were made to be a uniquely extraordinary individual. Find your magic and shine!
Cheers! ✌💛
